Essential Fatty Acids, EFAs, and Oils
Essential Fatty Acids, or EFAs, are fatty acids that our bodies need to stay healthy. Prior to 1929, they were called vitamin F. Our bodies cannot synthesis EFAs so we must get our required amount from outside sources. An excellent source for these is fish oil. However there are also vegetarian alternatives. If we do not get enough EFAs, the health of our nerves, brain, and our circulatory system could diminish. Historically, EFAs have been used to treat a multitude of health problems.
Other oils can also be greatly beneficial to your health. Conjugated Linoleic Acid, CLA, may help you lose weight and increase body mass. Essential oils, like tea tree or anise, can improve your health through aroma therapy. Oil is not necessarily bad for you, in fact it could be extremely helpful in promoting your health, however you should research carefully and pick the oil that is right for you.
There are many reasons why supplementing with essential fatty acids are good for your health. Just a few may include:
•Improves Brain Function
•Helps Joint Pain
•Help Burn Fat
Since our bodies do not make its own Omega 3 and 6 (EFAs) we need to supplement. Our diets often do not supply the appropriate amount of these essential fats. If your diet and health is not 100% perfect, you should consider if supplementing EFAs is right for you.
